This weekend I took my future sister-in-law and her 5 year old
daughter shopping for a flower girl dress. First stop, a lovely
wedding boutique, where I found a beauitful dress for the little one
(at $150.00!!). Next FSIL suggested we go to David's. We went,
looked through the flower girl dresses, and picked out 5
dresses...........4 from the regular collection, and one that was on
clearance. (Very cute, simple dress.....I guess they are just
discontinuing the style)

We put the clearance one on her first, and both just loved it! It fit
her perfectly, yet would still work fine if she shot up a few inches
in the next 6 months. We put the other 4 on her quickly, but we were
both set on the clearance one. The saleslady who kept on hovering
near us (even though we were doing just fine on our own), said that we
should order a larger size (which, by the way wouldn't be a clearance
dress anymore), and have it taken in. The only reason I could think
of why she suggested this, was for the commission and for the extra
business for the alterations department. I polietly declined, paid
for the clearance dress (only $60!!), and left.

Even when we got back, I had my flower girl model the dress for my
future MIL.........she even agreeded that the dress was perfectly fine
the way it was!

Very sneaky David's..........

I went to david's looking for a dress in june and really was not impressed.
The lady helping me pulled the dresses but was very disinterested
in helping me past that. she went off to talk to someone when i
needed help, didn't help with veils or much else. I didn't go back.

Susan,

I feel the same way about David's. I was so excited to go there shopping for
my dress. When I go there I was not impressed with the selection and the help
was also lacking. I did not like it. Do you know of any other good places to
go for a wedding dress.

It Depends on where you live. I ordered mine from Park Aveneu Bridal
and they were great. They didn't let you take pictures of the dresses
until you buy it. They are in Northern NJ.

In New York City I went to RK Bridal which was ok. Lots of stuff but the
lady was a bit facist. I also went to the Bridal Suite of Manhattan
which was great. It had wonderful service and was a really nice
experiance. Only problem is that I am a bigger girl and the selection
for larger women there was only the DIVA line by pambloma or whatever that
is.
